Saturday 10/3/26

Hi! Good luck to Karlyn in the Portland Marathon this weekend!

Lots of great racing ahead with our incredibly fit and prepared SBRR runners and we’re looking forward to cheering you on!

XC Training will begin to become more specific starting tomorrow!

Announcements: (From Jim Sloan)

Now that the Sydney Marathon is officially a World Marathon Major, several of us have talked about getting a group together to run it in 2027. I think it would be a really fun trip and a great race to do together.

The race is August 29, 2027, and there are a couple of ways to get in:

1. Sydney Marathon lottery: Registration opens tomorrow, Sept. 29, and closes Oct. 19. It’s a random draw, not first come, first served, so there’s no advantage to applying early. Unfortunately, the window for guaranteed entry by meeting the time standard has already closed.

Info/registration:

2. Marathon Tours & Travel: MTT has packages that include a guaranteed race entry and hotel. One of the best ways to get access is to join their Seven Continents Club ($200), since members get first shot at available entries.

MTT info:

I’ve already pre-registered through MTT.

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll start a “Sydney ’27” group text so we can share registration and travel plans. It would be great to get a good group of us there!

Race Calendar:

  • Portland Marathon THIS week….GOOD LUCK KARLYN!

And for your entertainment for the weekend, come to Villa Wine Bar Saturday 6pm to 8pm

Lastly, it’s gonna be a hot weekend…so we will meet 6:30am tomorrow at Shoreline Cafe!

Hi, I’m out of town so here is your workout:

Warmup: 2-4 miles, strides x 5, IN LANES 4-8 aside from those that have very specific paces/times to hit.

6x3min at threshold effort, 60sec jog between, 4 min jog after the 6th then 4 laps at above 90% (should be a hard effort but hold form and make it look easier than it feels;)…also, if you want to move into the first lane for the 1600 then do so but please stay single file and aware of those that are also in the first lane!

Thank you and have a great workout!

Rusty

Tuesday 9/8/26 AM workout

Hi, anyone racing She is Beautiful this Saturday here is your workout: 2-3mi warmup, strides x 5, 3×200@90% (~just a bit faster than 5K race pace) with 60sec between; 3min jog, 3×800@5K race pace with 3min between, cooldown 2-3miles

Those that have track specific workouts and know then you are in the first lane…remember please stay single file for folks to be able to pass!

Everyone else, warm up 2-4miles, strides x 5 and. please run in lanes 4-8 and 15-20x1min@90% effort (so higher end of threshold but able to recover with a 30sec jog…start easier than you think you should and deliberately increase the effort as the workout progresses, cooldown 2-3miles

See you all Saturday! Have a great workout!
